The 1 acre lake has existed since at least 1792 and is part of Pool Brook that flows from the Malvern Hills to the River Severn. Unfortunately it was very badly silted and we have taken the opportunity of recent works involving the spreading of soil to desilt this lake.
At the same time we have widened the stream flowing from the old lake to form a new lake in front of the new house and walled garden.
The old lake already has lakeside planting of special specimen trees and shrubs. A new feature just completed is a raised walkway at one end of the lake so there is now a walk all around the perimeter of the old lake which in spring will be through the daffodils and bluebells. The new lake will also be planted appropriately over the next 12 months, so as not to damage the views and outlook. Our model for this is the lake at Sandringham.
