Blackmore Gardens & Grounds

Our new house is positioned in the walled garden with a south facing patio and an orangery attached. The surrounding 15 acres are composed of an arboretum planted in 2001, copses and glades, parkland/paddock, two lakes and a courtyard garden. The grounds have stunning views across to the Malvern Hills and are within a very relaxing and peaceful setting. Guests are welcome to explore the grounds whilst staying with us.

Grounds

The Blackmore Estate dates back to at least the reign of King Henry VIII, and the area occupied by Blackmore Gardens represents the area of the estate that produced the flowers and vegetables for the estate and a large proportion of the fruit.

The estate was broken up in 1919 and Blackmore Gardens was sold in 1925 when the area around the Mansion was sold. Until the 1980's it retained its horticultural roots as a market garden. After that attempts were made to change it to an agricultural small holding and horse racing stable.

When we bought the property in August 2000 virtually the only thing growing was grass with nearly all the trees destroyed. We have embarked on a long term restoration and enhancement project to recreate the horticultural base of the property, which was in one of the historic parks and gardens of Worcestershire
